July 11, 2024

*****For Immediate Release*****

Hurricane Beryl Fiber Outage July 8, 2024

Navasota, TX – July 11 – 8:30 P.M.

MidSouth Fiber crews were able to follow the restoration efforts of its parent company MidSouth Electric Co-op to address damage caused by Hurricane Beryl. Technicians began dispatching yesterday.

MidSouth’s core fiber network remained functional throughout the storm and following. As of today, 100 fiber outages have been reported. Under normal circumstances, MidSouth technicians dispatch to outage calls within 30 minutes. We are asking for patience as crews will remain vigilant in addressing each call until every subscriber is back online.

Crews will continue to work their way across the territory to evaluate equipment to ensure potentially compromised components are operating properly.

Trees and limbs may continue to fall in the coming days. If you experience future service interruption, please call MidSouth at 936-243-4237.

If your internet has been affected by the storm, please follow the steps below:

  1. Once your power is restored, allow your Gigaspire router to restart. This process may take up to 30 minutes as the router downloads Protect IQ and Experience IQ software updates
  • A green light indicates your internet is successfully connected. If you have a green light and your internet connection is still unsuccessful, please unplug any hard-wired devices and try again.
  • A yellow light indicates the router is re-booting.
  • A red light means you are not connected to the internet and requires further troubleshooting.
  1. Report your internet outage by calling 936-24FIBER (936-243-4237).
  1. If your router has been damaged by lightning, a scheduled visit by a technician may be required to replace equipment.

MidSouth appreciates your patience in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl. We value your trust in us and are committed to providing the highest level of service.
