Texas Lifeline Program

 

The Texas Lifeline Program is designed to assist qualified low-income individuals pay the monthly cost of basic telephone/broadband service.  It is administered by the Public Utilities Commission of Texas (not USAC).

 

You may qualify if the current total household income is at or below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines.  You may also qualify if you or someone in your household is currently receiving: Medicaid, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program support (LIHEAP), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Health Benefit Coverage under Child Health Plan (CHIP) under Chapter 62 support, National School Lunch Program – Free Lunch Program, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).

 

The Texas Lifeline discount has two components, a state and a federal discount.  The state discount is up to $3.50 and the federal discount is up to $9.25.  For those who qualify and are approved, Lifeline reduces the basic monthly telephone/broadband rate up to $12.75, which will be applied to your MidSouth Fiber bill.

After MidSouth Fiber receives notification from the Public Utility Commission of Texas that you have been approved for the Texas Lifeline discount, we will establish the effective date for your discount to begin depending on your bill date and a Midsouth representative will contact you with this information.
