Lifeline Program
Lifeline is a federal program dedicated to making phone and internet service more affordable for low-income households.
Only one discount is allowed per household and it is non-transferable (from one person to another). For those who qualify and are approved, Lifeline reduces the basic monthly telephone/broadband rate up to $9.25 ($5.25/month on voice only service or $9.25/month on qualifying standalone internet access service or qualifying internet access with voice).
You may qualify for Lifeline if you have a total household income that is below 135% of the federal poverty guidelines. If you qualify based on income, you will be required to provide income verification.
You may also qualify if you or someone in your household currently receives benefits from one of the following programs:
-Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) (Food Stamps)
-Medicaid
-Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
-Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
-Veterans Pension or Survivors Benefit Programs
Proof of participation in one of these programs will be required.
When MidSouth Fiber receives notification from the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) that you have been approved for the Lifeline discount, we will establish the effective date for your discount to begin depending on your bill date. A Midsouth representative will contact you with this information.
