December 2020 Construction Update

As we begin to wrap up the year 2020, we are excited to update you on the progress made in the MidSouth Fiber project. In June, we hooked up our first test homes in phase 1 to ensure we bring you the most reliable service possible. Crews have continued to work across phase 1 and connect more households to bolder, faster fiber internet.

Today, more than 700 members are enjoying MidSouth Fiber. This number continues to grow as more members choose their package and schedule their in-home installations. The following service areas can access service now: 102, 109, 110 and 111. You can determine which service area you live in here. If you live in service area 102, 109, 110 or 111 and would like to sign up for MidSouth Fiber Internet, please give us a call at 936-825-5100.

We have a variety of different crews working across phase 1 tackling different stages of the construction process. This includes make-ready crews, stranding crews, fiber cable crews and installers who run drops to homes. You may notice them in your neighborhood. Our installers are identified by the MidSouth Fiber Contractor signage on their vehicles. If you live in phase 1 and haven’t seen crews in your area yet, you will soon.

If you live in phase 2, be on the look-out for our make-ready crews. These crews will begin moving across the second phase of the MidSouth Fiber project to update our existing infrastructure and prepare it for the fiber cable. Once this step is complete, they can begin hanging the fiber cable. Now is a great time to pre-register your address at www.MidSouthFiber.com. Pre-registration lets us know you want updates sent directly to your inbox when service becomes available and ensures you get fiber internet as early as possible.

We understand it can be hard to see progress when it’s not happening on your street. Many of you need a more reliable internet source or don’t have access to high-speed internet in your area. Some of you have experienced lifestyle changes as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and are now working from home. Our crews and team continue to work hard for you. Each day we get a little closer to bringing a reliable, affordable internet option to every member across our service territory.
